TLDR: Socrates has released new features to make its product more user-friendly and transparent. The updates include a new popularity ranking algorithm, an enhanced voting trend chart, and a new voting progress feature.

Socrates is committed to providing our users with the best possible experience, and that includes making our product as transparent and user-friendly as possible. This week, we’re pleased to introduce a series of enhancements that will make our web3 platform even easier to understand and empower users to make informed decisions.

Popularity values ranking optimisation

Previously, the popularity values ranking was primarily determined by the total points injected into questions by participants. This approach aimed to increase participation, as more participants would theoretically lead to more points (in other words, a larger prize pool). However, in some instances, a single user could substantially influence the ranking of a question by injecting a large number of points, even if the question received relatively few votes. This distorted the popularity values ranking, as it rewarded questions with high point totals but low engagement. To address this issue, we have refined the ranking algorithm to consider both the total points injected and the number of votes a question receives. This balanced approach ensures that the popularity values ranking accurately reflects both the popularity of a question and the level of engagement it has generated.

Transparent voting trend

A few weeks ago, we introduced the feature of displaying vote percentages for options once a question has reached 20 votes. This week, we’ve made further improvements to this feature. The voting trend chart can now be displayed in both percentage and vote count formats. Additionally, a dropdown option has been added, allowing users to filter voting trends by question options. These updates make it easier to grasp voting trends; you can quickly assess which option is more popular and track how it changes over time. This is crucial for analysing voting results, identifying trends, and making informed decisions.

Continuous improvements in profile center

To enhance the user experience, we’re introducing a new feature that displays voting progress when a question reaches a total of 20 participants. The voting progress will be presented with two line charts in the user’s profile center: one showing the voting rate and the number of votes for the option the user selected at the time they voted, and the other showing the real-time voting rate and votes for the same option. Upon question closure, if the user has successfully earned the Discussion Prize, the real-time chart will be highlighted in green. If they have not earned the prize, it will appear in red.

This visual representation will offer increased transparency by assisting users to get a deeper understanding of the voting process and its implications. Additionally, the colour-coding of the real-time chart will clearly convey whether or not the user was eligible for the Discussion Prize!

We are continuously striving to enhance our product and make it even more user-friendly. We’re confident that these updates will elevate your experience and empower you to make more informed decisions. Stay tuned for more exciting updates coming soon, including the implementation of multichain to Socrates!
