Design Philosophy

Web2 Design Philosophy

The functional design of Socrates’ Web2 aspects aim to inspire dialectical thinking on any given issue, counteracting mainstream social media’s tendencies to promote biased and even extreme perspectives on various societal matters. Socrates seeks to nurture human society towards greater rationality, inclusiveness, equality, and openness, harnessing collective wisdom to expand and inspire the boundaries of human thought. Socrates aims to foster a mutual understanding among individuals, cultures, and nations by showcasing people’s diverse thoughts, votes, choices, and debates on a variety of global issues. This approach seeks to promote healthy competition and lasting peace within human society, contributing to the exploration of a new civilization for humanity.

Web3 Design Philosophy

The functional design of Socrates’ Web3 product aspires to achieve ‘user data assetization, user data privatization, user data valorization,’ directly linking individuals to one another, to information, and to value, thereby allowing for the direct monetization of human and informational value. Socrates aims to become the bridge connecting the Web2 and Web3 worlds, ultimately leading the transformation of production relationships on the internet.

Product Feature Design Philosophy

Web2

Dialectical Information

On traditional social media, users are limited to passively receiving information and lack a decision-making influence. Social media’s extreme and biased information dissemination has led to an increasingly fragmented human society and more radicalized thinking. This polarization is the root cause of various issues in our societies today. A dialectical approach to information is the correct way to understand it, and a dialectical view of the world is the correct way to perceive it. With the advent of the AI era, humanity will enter a world where truths and falsities are almost indistinguishable. In such a world, critical thinking serves as the foundational thought for human existence. In the era of AI, traditional education will lose its relevance, and human education will need to shift from knowledge accumulation to wisdom learning, where critical thinking paves the way to wisdom.

Socrates supports users in creating debates in any form of information — text, video, and audio live streaming. Through dialectical engagement with information, users are no longer passive recipients; they have the right to determine where information flows.

Instant Messages/Community Design Principles

What constitutes genuine social interaction? Genuine social relationships are formed when individuals with consensus engage in social interactions. One cannot befriend someone without reaching consensus. Socrates supports the use of NFT avatars, where holding similar NFTs represents a shared consensus among individuals. People with the same NFTs join a Socrates group, thereby forming consensus-based social relationships.

On Socrates, engaging in debate and voting on the same individuals or matters automatically facilitates the formation of friendships, creating communities. Debate creates relationships on a deeper, intellectual level, as users engage with each other’s thought processes and cognitive awareness. Based on the other person’s perspectives, users can decide who to establish a social relationship with.

Web3

Minting Content as NFTs

On traditional internet platforms, user generated content (UGC) is often subject to control and limitations imposed by the platform. In contrast, Socrates allows users to convert all user-generated content — whether posts, images, videos, voice-notes, or avatars and accounts — into eternal assets. Users can choose to transfer these NFTs to their wallets or directly trade them for monetary gain.

Socrates’ NFT-powered content gives full ownership back to users. Once a user mints content as an NFT, it permanently exists on the blockchain, immune to tampering or deletion. The rights to trade, control, and profit from the content rest solely with the creator. Users gain true ownership of their creations.

Minting content as NFTs reconstructs production relationships on social media. We have truly returned all rights to users, enabling every participant to derive tangible value from their creations. Users are transformed from mere content producers to true owners and controllers of digital assets.

Minting Avatars and Accounts as NFTs

In traditional social media, user avatars are just images, and usernames are represented by alphanumeric characters. On the Socrates platform, both avatars and accounts can be minted as NFTs, becoming digital assets for users, tradable and monetizable on the NFT marketplace.

Information and Airdrops

Airdrop is a distinctive feature in the Web3 industry, but currently, the entire Web3 industry is facing bottlenecks due to a lack of integration between information and social interaction. The value of tokens stems from consensus, which is derived from information and social interaction.

In the Web2 world, information is just information. Users struggle to monetise information. However, Socrates bridges this gap by combining information with airdrops, seamlessly linking information and value.

On Socrates, users can inject airdrops to any piece of information or inject airdrops to groups. This not only garners greater attention for the information but also increases visibility for the airdrops. The integration of information, airdrops, and groups represents a link between the Web2 and Web3 worlds.

Token Trading

Socrates uses an AMM model to facilitate token trading, enabling instant flow of user value within Web3. The platform operates without a traditional order book, ensuring seamless exchanges via liquidity pools, which enhances user experience and guarantees efficient asset circulation within the platform. The AMM automatically prices assets based on the pool’s asset ratio, allowing users to trade without waiting for a counterparty. This enhances liquidity and creates a truly user-controlled trading environment.

For Socrates, token trading not only enhances ecosystem vitality and reduces operational burdens but also drives the transformation of Web3 production relationships, embedding the principle of returning user rights to users into trading, allowing each user’s digital assets to circulate and appreciate safely and freely.

SOC

Platform Token SOC

SOC is Socrates’ core token, integral to all core product functions of the platform and serving as a carrier of Socrates’ value. SOC airdrops will be based on growth and engagement. SOC airdrops will be based on the genuine value growth of users. The release of SOC will be tied to Socrates’ ultimate goal of reaching 5 billion users.

SOC Airdrop Mechanism

Socrates will release a total amount of 10 billion SOC tokens, among which 50% (5 billion SOC tokens) will be allocated for user airdrops, distributed in stages. The goal is to achieve a 1:1 distribution ratio when the number of real users reaches 5 billion.

Airdrop release mechanism

To better meet market demand, SOC tokens will not be linearly released. They will be dynamically released based on the market supply and demand, SOC value, and user growth. For example, in the early stages of the project, the release ratio may be relatively high to encourage user participation, while as the user base faces saturation, the release volume per unit/user will be reduced accordingly. This dynamic adjustment mechanism aims to maintain market balance for SOC tokens and protect user interests.

In the first airdrop of 2023, Socrates airdropped 410 million SOC tokens. Starting from November 2024, the reserved SOC for user airdrops is 4.59 billion.

Points allocation principles

The system assigns weight to various user activities on the platform, converting these into points. SOC tokens are then allocated based on the proportion of points each user accumulates during each airdrop period. Once each round of SOC airdrop is completed, points will reset and begin accumulating anew.

User activities are classified into two categories: Web2 and Web3

  • Web2 activities:

These include actions like posting text, audio, comments, or video; participating in debates and voting; importing contact lists and inviting new users to register, and so on.

  • Web3 activities:

These include injecting airdrops into posts, claiming airdrops, minting content (such as text, images, music, and video) as NFTs, minting NFT avatars or accounts, conducting NFT transactions, participating in token trades, and sending airdrops within IM group chats.

The weight of Web3 activities is higher than that of Web2 activities. The frequency and types of interactions users have on the platform are converted into points, which determine the amount of SOC airdropped to each user during each period.

Impact of the Active Real User Growth Index on SOC airdrops

The Active Real User Growth Index is the key metric for SOC airdrop releases. Even if users are highly active in Web2 and Web3 activities, SOC tokens will not be released unless the number of active real users reaches 100 million. The faster the growth of active real users, the quicker the SOC airdrop release.

NFT Avatar Airdrop Mechanism

Socrates offers a total number of 30,000 Socrates Genesis avatars. The NFT avatar airdrop mechanism will also adopt a 50% distribution ratio — 50% for the platform and 50% for airdrops. The release is based on real value growth from users. Unlike the SOC airdrop, NFT avatars will be exclusively airdropped to outstanding contributors to the platform. The platform will select community leaders, quality content creators, exceptional partners, and top investors who have made significant contributions to the Socrates ecosystem based on specific milestone targets.
